Privacy Notice – Recording Telephone Calls

The surgery has the ability to record telephone calls. We will make this clear to you when you contact us by telephone. Usually, when you call the practice, you will be greeted by an automated recording confirming that all calls are recorded for training and quality purposes. All Calls, or transcripts of calls, audio or audio-visual recordings, or elements of the discussion you have with the clinicians that contain clinical information are automatically kept for three years.

The surgery records all telephone conversations unless confirmed otherwise. This is also used to protect patients, staff, and other health workers from potential abuse. We occasionally use recordings for staff training and quality control.

The recordings are stored on the surgery telephone system and are protected through the company’s GDPR Policy. These recordings will not usually be shared outside the practice. If we hold recordings that have not been deleted you can ask for copies by putting a request to the Practice Manager.

If you do not wish for the call to be recorded, please tell the staff member at the time and an alternative arrangement will be made. If you have any further queries please e-mail the practice.
